Tommy's First Snow Day!

We finally had our first snow day on the day we were supposed to go back to school.  I was definitely not complaining!  We decided to try out Tommy's new sled.  At first he was not a big fan....he was also getting tired and was not happy when I put him in his snowsuit.  After a few laps (it felt like sledding Nascar) he started to really enjoy it.   All that fresh air really got to him too because when we came inside, he fell right asleep and took a great nap for almost two hours!

Not a huge fan.

"Whoa, Mom!"

Not loving the snow!

Karma kept watch on us.

Finally!  He enjoyed it! :)

"Okay, Mom!  Enough pictures!"

Out like a light!

Tommy's First Christmas

This year was Tommy's first Christmas and I couldn't have been more excited!  I was able to find fantastic deals for his Christmas and birthday (since they are less than 2 months apart) online on Black Friday.  I sort of went a little overboard when everything started showing up!!  I tried to buy things he would use in the upcoming years though so even though he got quite a bit, they will be put to use for longer than a few months.

What made his first Christmas even more amazing was that his Uncle Sean (my brother) was able to come home from Oklahoma for it.  He stayed with us Christmas Eve and helped put together some of his gifts that Santa ran out of time to.  We had my family and grandparents over for Christmas (it was also the first Christmas in my new house....I had the house last year but was too pregnant to decorate or cook).   It was such a fantastic time being surrounded by our family.  :)

Picking up Uncle Sean from the airport...it was past Tommy's bedtime.

His shirt says "All I Want For Christmas is my Uncle Sean!"

My friend, Sarah, bought Tommy some Santa Huggies....SO cute!

Snuggled with Elmo, waiting for Santa.

He decided to help Uncle Sean instead.

Very spoiled! :)

Tommy LOVES the holidays!

Time for presents!

He preferred to sit in his sled to open gifts.

The boxes were a big hit!

His firetruck! As he gets bigger, he'll have more and more fun with this!

He got a bowl for Christmas; it was one of his favorite things!

Elmo was hiding new bath toys!

Tommy's out but cute family photo nonetheless!

His favorite toy....Mom was pretty excited about this too!!!

Catching Up

I couldn't sleep tonight and so I thought it was as good of a time as any to catch up a little bit about my little boy.  I knew it had been a while but I didn't realize that the last post was written in SEPTEMBER!  Most of my friends see my baby updates on Facebook anyway so I'm not sure how much updating needs to be done.  :)

Well I started back to work in September and it has been so busy ever since!  I love his daycare!  They love him and snuggle him like he is going to family, not strangers.  He began the toddler room last week and loves the new toys and all the space to crawl around...oh yeah, he's crawling everywhere now!  He pulls himself up really quickly too and walks along everything.  He'll be walking any day now, watch out!! He has already mastered the stairs....and mom busted out the baby gate.

Tommy is also a very hearty eater now too!  He loves veggie pasta (which is funny because I ate tons of it while pregnant) and is a huge fan of the Gerber snacks....baby crack...all new moms should invest in this, your baby will love you for it!  His favorite foods though are whatever mom is eating.  He and I both have been sick lately and he hasn't been eating much besides crackers.  Tonight I made chicken noodle soup (one of his favorites) and he was at my side waiting for more.  I couldn't complain though, he was eating and I was pretty happy with that.  There are many nights when his dinner ends up more on his body than I'm sure is in his tummy but it's one of our favorite times so I don't complain...and bath time is pretty fun also.
Snack Time!

My silly boy!

All fresh and clean!
Tommy now has four teeth on the bottom and has two top teeth trying to work their way through.  I joke that he is going to look like  a piranha if the other ones don't come in soon!  He loves to use his new teeth to bit everything though...including mom!  He never clamps down hard but likes it when I tell him ouch! I might have my hands full with this one!  The daycare ladies tell me that everyone loves Tommy and that he is the class clown...oh geez!!
Yes, that is a cat toy in his mouth.....silly baby!

It's hard for me to believe that my baby is 11 months old now and in just a few very short weeks will be one year old....a toddler!  A friend of mine recently had her baby and because he was early, he was also in the NICU.  It brought back a lot of emotions and memories about Tommy's stay and how difficult that time was.  To look at this boy now, you would never know that for the first 13 days of his life he was hooked to wires and IVs and was being force fed through a tube after he would not take the bottles or nurse.  He is a healthy, beautiful baby boy who is so full of life and quite the stinker!  I remember sitting there with him feeling so helpless because no one had answers for me and just feeling broken myself because I couldn't get him to eat any faster.   As dark as that time was, it is nothing but a memory now.  I am still amazed that this beautiful boy is mine and more so that I created and carried him in my body.....wow!
I have one big time "mama's boy", that's for sure!

I haven't been able to sleep well lately, blame it on endless racing thoughts and this dang virus, so hopefully I'll be able to update a few events before his first birthday.
